Shopping In Chewang

Chewang is one of the best places to go shopping in Koh Samui, with a wide array of shops that offer everything from beachwear to toys and memorabilia. The so called shopping quarter is in fact located all along Beach Road, and consists of several sections for sport shops, jewelry, beachwear, as well as numerous clothing and bazaar type stalls that sell just about anything you could imagine.

While it may seem limited, the 6 kilometer road is lined with these types of shops giving you an endless number of possibilities for the entire duration of your stay in Koh Samui. You should keep in mind that most of these shops are closed in the morning and some don’t open until later in the day or even at night so schedule your shopping trips accordingly.

Another great place to go shopping is Central Festival Samui, a large shopping complex located between Beach Road and Chaweng Lake. Here you will find numerous clothing shops, big brands and a huge eating court with both local and international franchises. The shopping complex opens at 11:00 a.m. and closes at 23:00 p.m.

While there are numerous other big complexes street shopping is by far the most popular way of buying stuff in Koh Samui and with such a huge offer you will surely understand why. T-shirts, jewelry and computer games are the most common items you will find. T-shirts in particular are very popular among tourists and with most shops allowing you the option to personalize your purchase there are literally limitless possibilities for very little money.

Other interesting things you can buy are soap carvings, natural sponges, and plastic weapon replicas. You can also get all the beach toys, wear and floating devices you ever needed for very little money so you should keep this in mind and avoid over packing when you travel.

The Chaweng Walking Street Market is located in south Chaweng, just off Main Street and is the perfect place to go if you like to haggle for your merchandise. You can also find some delicious street food here a series of fun little terraces, just right for relaxing in and enjoying a cool drink.

Chaweng Walk is quite similar to Chaweng Walking Street and was opened in 2013. This daily market has the same diverse offer of products and can be found between Banana Fan Sea Samui and Tradewinds by Lawana. Part of this shopping street is open air while the rest is covered allowing for a great shopping experience even when the weather is less than ideal.
