There’s No Better Seafood Than At Big John’s

Koh Samui has some of the best seafood in Thailand which is saying a lot. The amazingly fresh ingredients play a big part when it comes to the taste and texture of the dishes and with professional fishermen and some of the world’s best chefs there is no surprise that food excellence is a common occurrence in Koh Samui.

When it comes to seafood excellence in Koh Samui most people will mention Big John’s. This charming restaurant is located at Lipa Noi, in the southwestern part of Koh Samui Island. It is located in close proximity to the Donsak Ferry and is easily accessible thanks to the well thought-out signs. If you’re staying less or around 10 km away from the restaurant you can use their free pick up service and not worry about tipping back some delicious alcoholic beverages. The location is ideal for family dining especially if you have a child as the beach there is very shallow and clear with no boulders, rocks or coral to cut yourself in. If you bring your child to lunch you won’t have to look over him all night as there is a playground at Big John’s where he can have fun on his own.

The restaurant itself is classically decorated with a homely air about it. It also offers one of the best sunset views on the island, ideal for romantic dinners in two or an unforgettable photo experience.

As far as the food is concerned, you will have a hard time finding better or fresher seafood anywhere in the world and the people at Big John’s know this. They try to always raise the bar and provide their customers with only the freshest fish and shellfish, all locally sourced or bought at the markets on the island.

The menu is huge offering every possible fish you can imagine and then some. While everything is delicious you should definitely make sure you try the Lobster Massaman which is basically made from fresh lobster bits cooked in Thay curry sauce with added peanuts for some extra crunch. Another amazing dish served here is the Steamed Pomfret with Plum Sauce. The fresh fish is quite meaty and easy to take apart so you won’t have to struggle with small bones thus being able to better absorb the sauce. Of course, no seafood restaurant would be complete without classics such as sea bass, snow fish, king prawns, blue crabs, oysters or red snapper.
